Mission Statement
WKM offer a free, professional, confidential and impartial mediation service to help resolve conflict and the breakdown of relationships between individuals, organisations and groups in the West Kent area.
Aims and Objectives
- To provide a free, impartial and confidential mediation service to help people involved in disputes in the local community
- To reduce the potential of violence, harassment, stress and tension within the community as a result of conflicts.
- To work closely with partner agencies in a bid to resolve conflicts which can lead to anti social behaviour and the breakdown of relations within our community.
- To open up communication between vulnerable people who feel isolated living within our community and address the barriers that result from stigma and discrimination. This often leads to a better understanding of other people’s lifestyles, cultures and preferences.
- To recruit, train and support volunteer mediators living within our local community to work for WKM.
- To offer help with victim offender mediation. Restorative justice gives offenders the opportunity to apologise or make amends for what they have done. It gives victims a greater opportunity to say how the offence has affected them, and it helps offenders to understand the harm that they have caused.
